At Grace Landing we know that it takes a village to raise a child… more specifically a committed community who cares about the child and wants to pour into them and do life alongside them. Jesus was keenly aware that people need their physical needs met in order for them to be in a place for their spiritual needs can be met. It is difficult to speak to people about Jesus being the bread of life when all they really want is a piece of bread. It is difficult to speak to people about Jesus the water from Heaven and whomever drinks from it will never thirst again, when they just want a glass of water. At Grace Landing we strive to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the foster care, homeless young men and the families we serve. We want them to know they are not in this journey alone. We want them to know it is ok to ask for help… and we want them to know the most appropriate place to ask for help when they need. Here are some resources we recommend because we know them and we trust them. When you need a little extra help, these are some of the best places to turn:
Community Based Care of Central Florida – CBC is the DCF contract lead agency in our area and have been changing the lives of the children and families they work with, giving families much-needed tools and resources to become better equipped. We have worked closely with CBC since 2010.
Trust Based Relationship Intervention – is an emerging intervention model for a wide range of childhood behavioral problems. It has been applied successfully in a variety of contexts, and with many children for whom numerous other interventions have failed (e.g., medications, cognitive-behavioral therapies.)
